Mark Webber has gone on the record stating that fellow Aussie, Daniel Ricciardo, will have the upper hand over his young Dutch teammate, Max Verstappen, at red Bull Racing this season.
Webber, who raced for the Milton Keynes based squad until the end of the 2013 Formula One season, was speaking from the Bathurst 12 hour on the weekend and revealed that in his opinion, Ricciardo’s experience will outweigh Verstappen’s exuberance, especially with the new regulation changes for 2017, but the battle between them will definitely be one to watch.
“It will be tight, as it was at the end of last year,” he said. “I think Daniel still has more composure. Obviously that experience will be very useful for him, particularly in the early part of the championship."
"When you’ve seen more regulation changes, like he has, driven a lot of different types of cars, that’s an advantage for him. It’s going to be a good battle there. But the composure side is a big plus for Daniel. He’s got plenty of fire too, and it’s all about putting the weekends together. Max is still learning, with that unbelievable talent.”
