After his training accident last Thursday the Yamaha Racing team has confirmed that they will not be replacing Valentino Rossi for his home race at Misano this coming weekend.

The Doctor suffered displaced fractures of the tibia and fibula of his right leg and was operated on almost immediately to repair the damage.

Whilst he was discharged the following day, it was recommended that he rest the leg for at least 40 days, automatically ruling him out of this weekend's race and more than likely the next round as well.

This leaves the team to contest round 13 of the 2017 MotoGP World Championship with Maverick Viñales as its sole rider.

“The whole of Yamaha wishes Valentino Rossi a speedy recovery and hopes to see him back on his YZR-M1 as soon as possible,” the team said in a statement.
