The Mercedes Formula One team has had an exciting off season to date with their 2017 plans being thrown into chaos just days after the season finale at Abu Dhabi when their 2016 champion, Nico Rosberg, announced that he would not be part of their 2017 championship plans as he was retiring from the sport, effective immediately.

From that moment on the focus was on who would replace the German driver, the problem exasperated by the fact that everyone was already under contract. This was all cause for a very exciting time for all concerned as the problems they faced were overcome one by one.

In the run-up to the new 2017 Championship season, team boss Toto Wolff set aside some time to talk about various issues that have arisen since 2016 came to a close, including the search for a replacement for Nico Rosberg, the recruitment of a promising youngster and the new Silver Arrows car for the 2017 season.
