The Singapore Grand Prix was a thrilling event, the rain, the lights, the night sky, all came together to give fans one of the best races so far this season (it didn't beat Baku though!) so is it any wonder that the Aussie V8's want to get in on some of that action? Not at all!

Even though the 2018 Supercars calendar will once again focus solely on Australian and New Zealand races, the 2019 schedule will see the Supercars supporting even more than just the Australian Formula One event, with the sports CEO, James Warburton, enjoying the Singapore GP from the sidelines while at the same time in deep discussions about the Aussie series supporting F1 at the Asian track in the future.

According to reports on the sports official website, linking with F1 races is the ideal platform for the series to kick off an Asian expansion…

“It was a very positive weekend. Wherever you are in the globe people have an enormous amount of respect for Supercars. People know and love the product,” he told supercars.com. “We had a great set of meetings, particularly catching up with Sean Bratches (MD of commercial operations) and the Formula 1 team, as well as a series of promoters.”

“As always it will come down to the economics, but we also had positive meetings with the Singapore Tourism Board. We're working towards opportunities for 2019. Time will tell, but there's a lot of desire to make it work. I've got no doubt that joining established events is absolutely the right model for us to pursue.”
