Sam Michael, who made the move from McLaren’s Formula One team to return to his native Australia almost two years ago, has joined the Triple Eight Engineering team so that they can take use of his engineering skills and experience for their contenders in the Supercars Championship.

Starting immediately, Michael will take on a ‘part-time mentoring role’ to assist the team as they roll out new engineering appointments between now and the start of the 2017 season.

Michael has worked for Williams and McLaren during his 21 year Formula One career and Triple Eight Engineering is thrilled to have his expert input…

Triple Eight is thrilled to welcome him into the team and looks forward to further developing the foremost engineering group in the Supercars category with his guidance,” they said in a statement.

The team’s current Technical Director, Ludo Lacroix, has left the team in a suprise move to DJR Team Penske, something that has left team boss Ronald Dane, very annoyed.
