Despite the fact that they are no longer teammates, the poor relationship between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton continues with Rosberg reacting to Hamilton’s comments that he felt disrespected by his team after they spoke adversely about him to the media after the season finale in Abu Dhabi last month.
“OK, so he felt disrespected. OK, that's a new one,” Rosberg was quoted as saying in the British press.
After the race that saw Lewis ignore team orders, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff threatened that there would be action taken, however since Rosberg’s retirement, his harsh comments have been retracted as they attermpt to keep their triple world championship winning driver happy.
Lewis also had another dig at Rosberg, hinting that his former teammate needed a personal couch to help him stay focused and win his first ever Formula One title after an 18 yearlong racing career.
“In my whole career I have never had to work with a mental coach,” he said in the Mail on Sunday. “I find my own way. I take it as a compliment that he was throwing everything and the toilet seat at it. Look at other sports. When people know they have to go up against Tiger Woods or Serena Williams, they know they have to lift their games.”
It certainly will be interesting to see who is signed up to partner Hamilton in 2017 and how they will measure up to his standards.
