Daniel Ricciardo is on a quest to make sure his body is in the best possible form and able to withstand punishing temperatures ahead of the 2017 Formula One Championship season.

Posting a pic on his twitter account from his native Australia as his fellow countryman were busy basking in the sun and swimming to cool down, Ricciardo was dressed in a heavy jumper to increase his body temperature, and it certainly wasn’t because he was cold!

“39 degrees (centigrade). Jumper on,” he said on Facebook. “Day 2 of the quest complete.”

When the drivers race in areas such as Malaysia, and even his home grand prix at Albert Park in Australia, temperatures inside the cockpit, and the drivers race suits can soar. As such drivers need to be able to withstand the heat in order to remain in peak condition for the duration of the race.
