Christian Horner is confident that his two Red Bull Racing team drivers, Aussie star Daniel Ricciardo and young Dutch star, Max Verstappen, will continue to work well together and hopefully avoid the notorious clashes that most duo’s in top teams suffer with.

According to the team boss, there is a mutual respect between them when they are together and that is the foundation of a good relationship…

“The most important thing is there is respect,” Horner told Autosport. “We don’t ask drivers to go out to dinner with each other but ask that they respect each other and respect the team. The two have done exactly that and the fact that their relationship goes beyond that is only a benefit to us. Daniel in many ways has almost been like an older brother to Max.”

The two drivers fought fairly during their time together in the 2016 season and Horner is confident that because they are so closely matched and with similar styles, that it should bode well in their bid to fight Mercedes in 2017…

“Their feedback is very similar, the demands from the car are very similar,” he explained. “Very often when you’re listening in, in qualifying or the race, the comments about the car are almost identical so for the designers and R&D guys it’s a great scenario to have both drivers chasing the same thing.”
