Nick Percat has won his first solo race in V8 Supercars in a rain soaked race three in the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

In an utterly chaotic day of racing, thunderstorms stopped the race for around 35 minutes on lap 42, as rain soaked the track and lightening hit the area.

One drivers returned to the track, Percat managed to overtake Fabian Coulthard on the final lap of the race, which was reduced from 78 laps to just 47, before Coulthard took the lead back on turn seven, before he ran wide to hand Percat the lead once more.

Scott Pye rounded came in third, but teammates Pye and Coulthard were both penalised 30 seconds due to not completing their fuel requirement, meaning Nissan Motorsport’s Michael Caruso came in second and HRT’s Garth Tander finished third.

The next weekend of racing is in two weeks time at the non-championship event, the 2016 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
