Speaking ahead of the upcoming Autosport Show this weekend, RenaultF1's Managing Director, Cyril Abiteboul spoke about the shock departure of the F1 Team Principal, Frederic Vasseur, on Wednesday and while he admitted that they were indeed surprised by the Frenchman's decision, they don't feel as if his absence from the team will cause a damaging blow.

In fact, they are so confident that his departure won't be felt, at this stage there aren't any plans to replace him.

"We don't feel shocked, we don't feel weakened by yesterday's announcement, which is something that had been discussed at length with Fred," Abiteboul was quoted as saying by Reuters  "The team principal role is something unique from team to team ... as far as I am concerned, we will not replace Fred in the capacity of team principal."

"If we feel we are weakened or held back by the fact we don't have a team principal, we will take action. But I don't think that this is a necessity at this point in time."

Vasseur was only at the helm of the French based squad for one season after leaving his position at the ART Grand Prix team where he helped engineer both GP2 and GP3 outfits to multiple championship victories.
