Sky F1 has been told by an unnamed source that the McLaren F1 team will be announcing their new engine deal at this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix.
There was strong speculation at the recent Italian Grand Prix that the Woking based squad were in the middle of a new deal with Renault after further disappointment from current engine supplier, Honda, since the return from summer break.
The new deal is said to include Honda moving to Toro Rosso and Fernando Alonso remaining with McLaren in the future. Carlos Sainz is also said to be involved in the deal with a move from Toro Rosso to Renault in the near future.
Alonso was poised to leave the team if the utter humiliation he was experiencing race after race didn’t end by the end of the year.
