Marc Marquez has extended his championship lead with a dominant victory at the Americas GP overnight.

Marquez led from start to finish, crossing the line 6.107 seconds ahead of second placed Jorge Lorenzo and 10.947 seconds ahead of third placed Andrew Iannone.

Italian and nine-time world champion, Valentino Rossi crashed out out of the race for the first time since 2014, while Spaniard Andrea Dovizioso also failed to finish.

In total, only 14 of the 20 riders finished the race without crashing, while three riders remounted after crashing, to total 17 finishers.

Marquez is not 21 points clear of second placed Jorge Lorenzo in the championship standings after three races, with Valentino Rossi in third place a further 12 points back.
