Three time Formula One World Champion, lewis Hamilton proudly took the covers off his new Mercedes W08 yesterday, causally filming the entire reveal for a live feed on his Instagram account at the same time so that all his fans could experience the same thing he was, awe.

The new car carries all of Lewis’ hopes for a stronger season this year, with fewer reliability problems and many more victories. While the 2017 F1 season has a lot of unknown’s due to the regulation changes, Hamilton and his team are confident that their new car has what it takes to remain at the top end of the hierarchy.

While the team worked on the car, Lewis has been hard at work making sure he is physically up to the challenges that this season will produce….

"It's been a fantastic winter and an exciting training season for me," explained Lewis of his preparations for the increased physical demands of 2017.  "I've added a new element to my training regime that has kept it really enjoyable and I'm in great shape. Then I've visited the factory and that has been super encouraging to see the way in which everybody is working.”

After losing out to Nico Rosberg last season, the Brit has confirmed that he is just as focused as ever and determined to do all he can to deliver the team’s fourth consecutive title….

"After all the success we have had, people could be sitting back and resting on their achievements. So it's inspiring to see how everybody is pushing even harder than ever and taking nothing for granted at all. This is the most exciting period of the year when the car comes together - and my privilege as a driver is then to get to feel what it's like and what all the team has worked for,” he said.

As he only completed a few laps on Thursday as part of a ‘film day’, Lewis was hesitant to give too many predictions...

"There's not too much point setting goals until we've really driven the car, so I'm going to go with the flow until we understand the possibilities. I'm feeling in a positive place with the team - we talked about a lot of stuff over the winter, I was able to get some things off my chest and now we are communicating better than ever and continuing to grow together.”

With Nico Rosberg now retired, Hamilton officially welcomed his new teammate, Valtteri Bottas…

"I'm the best equipped I have ever been to work with my team-mate and manage the relationship with my experience and maturity. I welcome Valtteri to the team and I know that the team will be giving us both everything they can to win the championship."
