He may not be fighting it out for the title like his two Triple Eight teammates, Jamie Whincup and Shane van Gisbergen are, but Craig Lowndes heads into this weekend’s season finale at the  Coates Hire Sydney 500 hoping to secure third place and give Triple Eight a one two three finish in the 2016 championship.

“I am really excited and I think we are in a great position, personally,” he said. “The main focus for us is to keep a hold of that third place, and we are going into Homebush with a lot of momentum and confidence.”

“The circuit is a street track I enjoy, we have had mixed results previously, with some big crashes, but we have had some great results there too. It rounds off a year which has been very satisfying and I am looking forward to finishing off the season on a positive note.”

Craig hasn’t had the easiest of seasons in his first year with Team Vortex with inconsistent performances sometimes leaving him well adrift of the two Red Bulls and the team will definitely be working on fixing the issues that have seen them off the podium in so many events so that they can come out swinging in the 2017 Clipsal 500.
