It wasn’t the best day at the office for Ducati rider Jorge Lorenzo as he languished down in fifteenth place on the leaderboard at the end of day two at Phillip Island.
Lorenzo completed a total of 64 laps of the Australian track, however he was 1.3 seconds off the leading pace, set by the man who replaced him at Yamaha, Maverick Vinales.
Despite his time, Lorenzo admitted that they did take a small step forward from their efforts on day one and he is optimistic that further improvements will be made for the third and final day here tomorrow.
“Today we worked well, trying to lap with more consistency and we made some small steps forward, doing a lot of 1m30s laps,” he said. “Tomorrow we’ll see if we can manage to improve our pace and constantly get under the 1m30s mark.”
“We tried several different set-up solutions and in any case I’m optimistic even though we are still some way behind the leaders. This evening, together with my technicians, I’ll analyze the data and tomorrow we’ll try and get closer to the top of the timesheets.”
