Triple Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton has spoken out about the debacle after the season finale at Abu Dhabi claiming that he felt disrespected by his team for the comments they made about him to the media.
Hamilton went into the last race of the year 15 points behind his teammate, Nico Rosberg so if he had any hope of winning his fourth title, he had to win and Rosberg had to finish off the podium.
Dominating the weekend from the start, Lewis looked set to clinch half the deal by winning the race, however, the completion from Red Bull and Ferrari, who Hamilton was hoping would get between his Mercedes and Rosberg's, didn't eventuate.
Therefore, after the final pitstops, Lewis slowed his pace, hoping to back Rosberg into their rivals, something the team didn't agree with at all. Showing their displeasure at his actions, Lewis was told by team bosses over the radio several times to speed up, something he refused to do, stating that he had to do all he could to win the title.
After the race, team boss Toto Wolff made several remarks to the media about Lewis ‘causing anarchy' by refusing to follow team orders, and according to Lewis, the situation between them still hasn't been resolved…
'That was one of many uncomfortable moments of the year. Ultimately seeing what had been said afterwards, I felt quite disrespected by the individuals who had spoken,” he was quoted as saying by the Mail on Sunday. “You definitely don't expect that from those who are in charge of so many people. Has the situation been resolved? 'No, it hasn't.”
Mercedes will be doing all they can to placate their driver after their 2016 champion, Nico Rosberg, announced his shock retirement just one week after taking his first ever world title.
