The Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport Supercar team has made history by confirming that they have just signed the youngest driver ever to get behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar.

At just 16 years of age, Alex Rullo will fill one of LDM’s two car entries and is set to make his first appearance at Winton Raceway for the the teams first test day on February 16.

Rullo completed a full year in the Dunlop Series with LDM in the 2016 Championship, with main game driver, Nick Percat as mentor. The young schoolboy’s top effort was a pair of top 6 finishes at his home track at Barbagallo Raceway and Sandown Raceway.

Team owner Lucas Dumbrell says he is pleased to continue the partnership with Rullo, and watch him grow as a driver and as a person.

“It’s really great to have Alex stay on with us this year and step up into the main series. He did a really good job last year in the development series and it is evident he has a lot of potential,” said Dumbrell. “For a 16 year old, Alex shows a level of maturity beyond his years and applies this to all areas of racing.”

“We look forward to watching Alex continue to grow and develop his skills as a driver throughout the year. With the brand new Dunlop tyre compound in 2017, all drivers will have the task of altering their driving style. This will be an advantage to Alex as all drivers will be virgins to the new compound.”
