The second and final free practice session for the opening day of the Chinese Grand Prix was a total wash out with no on track action whatsoever.

While there was no actual rain, once again the airport was closed due to low lying clouds, so the medical helicopter was unable to take off. Therefore, if an accident occurred there would be no way an injured driver would be able to get to the hospital, which is 38 km's away from the circuit, quick enough by road.

While engineers talked between themselves and some drivers gave interviews or sat idly in their cars, triple world champion Lewis Hamilton took firstly to pitlane and then to the grandstands themselves where he signed multiple mercedes caps and threw them to the screaming fans.

Commentators expressed their thoughts that other drivers should have followed suit, but the Mercedes driver was out there on his own, cheering up fans and taking away the disappointment they must have felt by not getting the on track they had hoped, and paid, to see.

Hopefully FP3 and qualifying will get underway here tomorrow.
