Everyone in the Formula One world knows that this weekend’s season finale in Abu Dhabi is more than just a race, it is in fact going to be a very emotional event for a number of reasons. We will see elation as one of two drivers is crowned champion, for one, it will be a first time thing, the other a fourth, but we will also see tears of another nature as Felipe Massa says goodbye to the world he has revolved his life around for the past 15 years.

Currently driving for the Mercedes powered Williams team, fans worldwide remember his days at Ferrari, and so do they. Of his 15 years in the sport, 10 of them have seen the Brazilian connected to the Scuderia, either directly, through his time with them as a driver or test driver, or through the Sauber F1 Team, who used to use Ferrari engine power.

Therefore it is only natural that Ferrari would wish their former man well in his future endeavours….

“The whole of Ferrari sends its greetings to Felipe Massa on his last competitive weekend of Formula 1,” they said in a statement. “Felipe has been connected to the Scuderia for over 10 years including eight as a race driver featuring 11 wins, 15 pole positions, 36 podiums and very nearly the world title in 2008. His competitive qualities and great passion have made him one of the Scuderia drivers most loved by fans around the world.”
“We send a big thanks to you Felipe for these wonderful years together, for the generosity that has always marked you on track and off, and for how you have successfully combined humanity and professionalism in a complex environment such as Formula 1."

"Obrigado Felipe, good luck for your future projects and a big hug to you and your wonderful family from all of us at Ferrari.”
