Ferrari continued their strong form in the third and final free practice session at the Monaco GP today when Sebastian Vettel set the blistering pace ahead of his Finnish teammate, Kimi Raikkonen. The two Ferrari drivers seemed to be in a league of their own, and definitely in a league seemingly out of Mercedes reach.

Valtteri Bottas was third quickest for Mercedes with the Red Bull Racing contender of Max Verstappen in fourth. The Dutchman's teammate Daniel Ricciardo ended the session with a Brake by Wire issue that saw him stop the car on track.

Lewis Hamilton was fifth overall and seemed unable to get anywhere near the pace set by the two Ferrari's, giving the impression that the Scuderia will take pole in just two hours time.

Esteban Ocon brought out the Virtual Safety Car when he went into the barriers at the exit from the Swimming Pool chicane. The Force India became wedged under the barrier and needed a huge amount of marshals and a crowbar to pry it loose. The team will now have a huge job in front of them to get that car back out in time for Qualifying.

In other news, Jenson Button has been hit with a 15 place grid penalty as Fernando Alonso's car needed to take on it's fifth Honda power unit. Even though it is not Jenson's car per se, he inherits Alonso's car, and it's problems.

The second McLaren of Stoffel Vandoorne will also have a grid penalty, but only three places after an accident with the Williams of Felipe Massa.
