With Christmas almost upon us, the Formula One teams are taking a well-deserved break, however their thoughts are never far away from the impending 2017 Championship season and their new contenders.

This means that launch season is almost upon us and the Ferrari team have become the first to announce the date they will unveil their 2017 hopes to the world.

The Maranello based squad has revealed that they will be keeping their new car under wraps until the 24th February, a rather late launch in the Formula One world as the first race of the season in Australia takes place just a few weeks later.

“There are so many changes to the rules relating to aerodynamics,” the Scuderia’s Chief Technical Officer, Mattia Binotto said of the new car. “We will see cars that are much quicker through the corners, under acceleration and in braking."

"There is nothing to say that we here in Maranello cannot build such a car…It’s just a matter of time. What we lacked on occasions this year was the ability to react quickly. We must be able to introduce new solutions before the others do.”

And with that goal, the work does not stop, not even during the holiday period.
