Pascal was almost signed on to race alongside Lewis Hamilton in 2017 but due to his inexperience the Mercedes team opted for Valtteri Bottas. However, Pascal remains one of their drivers who has been loaned out to Sauber for the 2017 championship season. This will be Pascal’s second season in the sport after spending 2016 with Manor racing, Prior to his F1 debut, pascal became the youngest driver to even win a DTM race at the age of 19 and then the youngest to win the title at the tender age of 20.
Pascal showed his mettle when he scored a point for Manor in the Austrian Grand Prix where he finished tenth. He also showed strong performances in qualifying, normally out-qualifying his teammate and making it into Q2 on several occasions.
