Australian journeyman John Millman has withdrawn from the Australian Open due to injury.

The 27-year-old worked hard to try to overcome a stubborn left hip injury, but ultimately was forced to withdraw after seeking medical advice.

Millman, currently ranked No.82, will drop out of the top 100 in the world following his absence from the first Grand Slam of the year.

He reached a career high ranking of 60 in May last year and reached the third round of the Australian Open in 2016, equaling his best finish at a Grand Slam.
