Round 9 of the 2017 Supercars Championship will get underway this morning at the former Eastern Creek circuit, now known as Sydney Motorsport Park, and it is the final SuperSprint round prior to the commencement of the Enduro Cup season.

What this means is that teams and drivers are set for a 120km race on Saturday, and a 200km race on Sunday on the purpose-built circuit, which has a mix of high speed and low speed corners.

The high-speed entries into turns two and eight actually provide great some passing opportunities so we should see lots of action there throughout the coming weekend.

Mobil 1 HSV racer James Courtney is looking forward to sinking is teeth into this round where the focus will be on continuing to make progress by working through a protocol with focused ambitions for the remainder of 2017.

“After the test day last week, I'm looking forward to getting back on track again,” he said. “It'll be good to put some of the information we learnt into action this weekend, while continuing that development process. Growing up in Penrith, Sydney Motorsport Park is somewhat of a ‘home event' for me, so it's good to get back there, I'm looking forward to it.”
