Chaz Mostert got off to a decent enough start at the non championship round at the Albert park Circuit on Thursday, the young Aussie racer believing that his Prodrive racing team is closing the gap to the category's front runners after recording four strong results in qualifying at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Changes prior to the final qualifying session saw Mostert knock 0.25 seconds off his previous best time, eclipsing the former practice lap record to again qualify in the top five

"We're trying to use this weekend as a good platform and put together a setup that we can take forward with us to the next few championship events. To have four consistent results around the top five is great. "

"It keeps us at the front and we can see what the other front guys are doing and when the races come around we will try to stick with them if not give them a little bit of a challenge. We'll keep chipping away."

"We know there's still a bit of work to do but it was another positive day out trying new things. We were still making improvements in the final qualifying session too so any day you get that is positive."

The first race of the weekend will get underway at 13;50 pm local time today. Can Chaz match the big boys when he needs to the most? Check back a little later and find out, or follow our live feed on Facebook and twitter for all the action as it unfolds.
