Pramac Ducati rider Danilo Petrucci stood on the rostrum for the third time this season, the second time in Italy after Mugello, when he finished second in Sunday's rain affected San Marino GP held at the Misano Circuit.

Petrucci rode brilliantly in the rain and delivered a brilliant result for Octo Pramac Racing despite the constant rain that fell during race day.

Petrucci seemed oblivious to the conditions and started pushing from the first lap, gaining 4 positions.

After overtaking Crutchlow and Vinales he was fourth on lap 2.

By lap 5 he was fastest on the wet track and was able to overtake Dovizioso.

The fantastic overtake on Marquez came one lap after.

Then Lorenzo crashed out of the lead, and Danilo took over as leader of the race.

The Italian rider was the leader until the last lap but Marc Marquez managed to overtake him at the end of the straight leaving Dani to finish in second place.

“It was a fantastic race,” he said afterwards. “From the first lap the feeling was good. I was leading for long until I saw Marquez coming back. I was thinking to make him pass but my fear was that he could run away. Marquez has done a fantastic last lap and he deserved the victory. I would have liked to win the race but I am very happy for how the weekend has gone, and I have to thank the whole team”.
