1. Adelaide United (1)

A lot can happen across a season and unfortunately sometimes the side most deserving can miss out on what they deserve. That certainly did not happen here as Adelaide United deserve their premier's plate after being the form team of the competition over the past 12 or-so weeks. To win the title they had to beat the high scoring Melbourne City on their own turf, and that they did. Isaias opened the scoring for the red hot Reds in just the fourth minute through a brilliant free kick, before Bruce Djite converted from the penalty spot in first half stoppage time. From there Adelaide went on to capture a deserved three points and an equally deserved premier's plate.

2. Western Sydney Wanderers (4)

The Wanderers head into the finals on the back of two comfortable wins. Their 2-0 win away to the Phoenix wrapped up second spot, a week off and a home final. Although they were favourites to win the plate just three weeks ago, considering their 2014/15 season, no Wanderers fan or player can be upset with the second placed finish. Brendon Santalab's brace within 15 minutes late in the first half was enough to pick up the points however Andrew Redmayne was called into action, especially early on. Romeo Castelen is hitting form at the right end of the season for the finals bound Wanderers. With a good bill of health, the Wanderers are set up nicely.

3. Brisbane Roar (3)

Roar fans will be a little underwhelmed with a third placed finish after not securing the win they needed to lift the premier's plate, but it has been a brilliant season for their side. A nil-all draw away to the Victory meant they did not jump over the in-form Adelaide United but sets them up well with a home final against the Victory. Brisbane had more than enough chances to win this game, but a combination of bad finishing and a string of brilliant saves from Lawrence Thomas meant it was not to be. With a minute to go, marquee man Thomas Broich HAD to win it for the premier's elect, but he could not convert. A huge improvement on 2014/15 despite missing out on top spot.

4. Perth Glory (2)

The Glory probably don't deserve to drop to fourth after a brilliant two months, but their loss to Sydney FC was massive. Sydney FC, who hadn't won in almost three months, had nothing to play for. The Glory meanwhile had a chance to finish third and secure a home final, yet played like the side who had one eye on their end of season trip. The Glory were outclassed in a big way, which will worry fans and staff as they now have to travel to Melbourne. They will be hoping that Castro is fit and ready next Sunday as they looked almost toothless without him. Andy Keogh was reduced to a spectator at times. They'll need to revert to the form of the past two months and put this blip behind them or face a long night in Melbourne.

5. Melbourne Victory (5)

The Victory refused to surrender their premier's plate on home soil and fought hard to secure a nil-all draw with the Roar. The home side have goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas to thank after he secured a man of the match award with a brilliant performance between the sticks. The champions rode their luck at times, however head into the finals series with a chance to retain their title on the back of some improved form. Two wins and two draws in their past four games has fans far more confident than they were after a 5-0 drubbing in Brisbane. Despite their improved form, they'll have to find a way to avenge that result if they hope to keep their title hopes alive.

6. Melbourne City (6)

Melbourne City fans will be wondering what could have been after their form over the final fortnight of the regular season saw them go from premiership favourites to lucky to secure a home final. Worryingly their two losses over that time came at the hands of two fellow finalists, including their opponents this weekend, the Glory. The difference is that they will play host the Glory, whereas their recent loss came away from home. City have enjoyed a brilliant season, after scoring a record amount of goals, but it'll all be for naught should they fail to beat the Glory this weekend. Given the attacking weapons at their disposal, they will head in deserved favourites.

7. Newcastle Jets (7)

The Jets fell well short of an unlikely finals position, but ended their season on a high after a 4-2 victory over local rivals the Mariners. Amazingly Morten Nordstrand put the Jets ahead in the first minute in a bizarre opening sequence. Enver Alivodic doubled the lead before the 20th minute and it looked like a long night ahead for the Mariners. Nordstrand's second and a late goal to Mateo Poljak iced a pleasing performance which brought to an end a season that is hard to sum up. Considering their efforts last season, this was a huge improvement, however they were never really in the reckoning for the business end of the season. For now though, the Jets can be very happy with their derby win.

8. Sydney FC (9)

Sydney FC, a side who had forgotten how to win over the past three months, ended their season with a thumping 4-0 win over the Glory. While it seemed otherwise, FC had very little to play for other than pride, but boy did they show just that. David Carney wound back the clock and put in a vintage performance, capped off with a goal. Although Holosko would be sent off in silly circumstances, he would exit after also finding his way onto the scoresheet. Abbas and Ninkovic also scored late, delivering a huge blow to the Glory, while ending their own season on a high.

9. Wellington Phoenix (8)

Unfortunately the Phoenix continued their limp to the finish line after losing their final game of the season 2-0 at home. Despite having their chances early on, for much of the game they were outplayed on their own patch. No one at the Phoenix will be happy with missing the finals by such a large margin, however considering the off field distractions, it could have been worse. With their future decided and a brilliant string of signings on the books going forward, all eyes will be on, what should be, a bright future. It was brilliant to see two club legends in Ben Sigmund and Manny Muscat given a well-deserved ovation in their final game for the club.

10. Central Coast Mariners (10)

The Mariners continue to break records after their horror 2015/16 season. Unfortunately the latest was becoming the only side in the competition's history to not record a clean sheet in a season. Despite playing their part in a very entertaining derby against the Jets, their finish to the season summed up their season overall. There were very few positives to come out of the Mariner's season 11 campaign and eyes will already be on 2016/17. Fabio Ferreira and Roy O'Donovan found their way onto the scoresheet in the final game and should be integral parts of the Mariners going forward.
